Information media, such as communication systems and storage devices of data, are not absolutely reliable in practice because of noise or other forms of introduced interference. In this presentation, we start from fundamental definitions in coding theory and furthermore we will have a look on error detection and correction. At the end we will also have a brief introduction to linear codes.
